Landscaping & Landscape Design

in Midway, FL

I'm Eric Bell, owner-operator of Bell's Lawncare, based right down Hwy 98 in Navarre — Midway is the stretch of road I drive most weeks, not a town I "expand into." Landscaping the Soundside since 2018, ~15 years in the trade; you get me, not a call center. Larger, deeper lots, established homes, neighbors who talk — most of my Midway work comes from someone pointing over the fence saying "he did ours."

Landscaping for Midway Homeowners

Many Midway yards have good bones and just haven't been touched in years — overgrown shrubs, tired beds, edges crept into the grass. It's not about ripping everything out; it's clearing what's played out, shaping clean beds/borders, choosing plants that belong near the water, and finishing with mulch or rock so the property reads cared-for.

Linda P.: "They removed old bushes, laid new sod, and installed rock in the beds, completely transforming the yard. Everything was done efficiently, neatly, and with great communication and attention to detail."

Full-Property Design for Larger Lots

Deeper lots are the reason I like working here — room to design instead of cram: foundation plantings across the front, defined borders along the drive and property lines, island beds, purposeful shade trees, rock or mulch tying it together.

Deep lots drain differently, so on long slopes or soggy low spots I grade and shape beds so water moves away from the house.

Coastal, Salt-Ready Plantings

Near the sound salt air is real and soil is sandy — inland favorites scorch here. I steer toward salt-tolerant, coastal-tough selections — muhly grass, yaupon holly, viburnum, Indian hawthorn, distylium, junipers, palms, hardy natives — and amend/prep beds because sand drains fast and holds little. Right plant, right prepped soil.

Our Process & What It Costs

Walk the property, free written estimate, no surprise math. Cost moves with scope (a couple beds vs. full property), bed/planting square footage, plant sizes, and rock/mulch/soil hauled in. Licensed, insured, BBB accredited. Honest scope: planting, beds, borders, drainage grading, mulch/rock are my lane; big structural hardscape (full paver patio, retaining wall) is specialist work and I'll point you to the right person.

FAQs

  • Best plants near Santa Rosa Sound?

For coastal areas like Santa Rosa Sound, we recommend salt-tolerant and coastal-tough plants such as muhly grass, yaupon holly, viburnum, Indian hawthorn, distylium, junipers, palms, and hardy natives.
